The 1000 Wines (1150/1000) DONE (for now)

Last Updated: December 1st, 2007

Here is where we were planning to list every wine (1000 and beyond) tasted during our trip. For some reason we didn’t consider the fact that neither of us is interested in spending hours transcribing our tasting notebook when we could be exploring places we’ve never been before.

So now we will simply track the number we’ve reached, write articles about each wine region we visit, and follow the rules everywhere we go.

Here are the rules:

1. Proximity Counts. The most preferable tasting location is at the vineyard or winery of origin, then nearest town, then nearest region, then country. So no Australian Shiraz while in France, and no French Bourduex while in Chile.
2. If it’s being poured, it must be tasted.
3. When we buy a bottle, it must be shared with friends. These friends may occasionally be strangers.
4. The darker the cellar, the stranger the grape, the rarer the vintage, the better.
5. 1000 wines is a minimum.
